John E. Black, B.Sc., M.Sc.
Chief Executive Officer & Director
John Black is an economic geologist with more than 35 years of exploration experience in the Americas, Central Asia, the SW Pacific, and Eastern Europe/Western Asia. He first worked in South America in 1993 and has been actively involved in mineral exploration throughout the continent for several companies since that time.
His professional credentials include a B.Sc. degree in Geology from Stanford University in 1983 and an M.S. degree in Geology – Ore Deposits Exploration from the same University in 1988. John was the founding President of Antares Minerals Inc. and was instrumental in acquiring the Haquira project in Peru for Antares. He was the key driver in negotiating the sale of Antares to First Quantum Minerals for C$650 million.
John’s early career included work with Bear Creek Mining Company, Kennecott Minerals Corporation, Rio Tinto and Western Mining Corporation and he currently serves as the CEO and director of Aldebaran Resources Inc.
Dr. Kevin B. Heather, B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc., Ph.D.
Chief Geological Officer & Director
Dr. Kevin B. Heather is an economic geologist with more than 40 years of field experience in North and South America.
Dr. Heather was a founding member of both Antares and Regulus and directed the exploration that led to the discovery of the high-grade Haquira East deposit in Southern Peru, which sold to First Quantum Minerals in December 2010 for C$650 million. His professional credentials include a BSc. (honours) degree in Geology from UBC in 1982, a MSc. degree in Geology from Queen’s University in 1985, and a PhD. degree from the University of Keele in 2001.
Dr. Heather is currently the Chief Geological Officer (CGO) for Regulus and Aldebaran and is the QP (FAUSIMM) responsible at a corporate level for overseeing the technical aspects of both company’s exploration activities.
During his career Dr. Heather has been involved with several discoveries and has worked on various world-class ore deposits including the El Indio Au-Ag-Cu Mine (Chile), the Pascua-Lama Au-Ag deposit (Chile-Argentina), and the Au-Ag Cerro Vanguardia Au-Ag deposit (Patagonia, Argentina).
Mark Wayne, LL.B, CFA
Chief Financial Officer & Director
Mark Wayne is a co-founder, director and the Chief Financial Officer of Aldebaran. He is also currently CFO of Regulus and prior to that, Antares Minerals Inc.
Mr. Wayne has a law degree and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He practiced law from 1980 – 1987, specializing in the fields of corporate and securities law. In 1987 he founded and became President of AltaFund Investment Corp., a public investment company that raised $110 million. In 1991, AltaFund joined the Altamira group of mutual funds and Mr. Wayne subsequently served as Vice-President, Western Canada for Altamira until November 1998.
Mr. Wayne has raised money for, and served as a director or officer of, a number of public and private companies over the years in the mining, oil and gas and technology sectors.
Mr. Wayne is based in Calgary, Alberta and is also an investment advisor with IA Securities Inc., a full service investment dealer.
Adam Greening
Senior Vice President Corporate Development
Adam Greening is a professional geologist with more than 15 years of experience in corporate development, exploration and strategy. Prior to joining Aldebaran, Adam worked at Yamana Gold where he helped evaluate and execute successful acquisitions and divestitures valued at approximately C$4.5 billion.
Prior to Yamana Gold, Adam worked at Goldcorp and MPH Consulting as a geologist.
Adam has a MBA from the Rotman School of Management – University of Toronto and a B.Sc (honours) from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Adam is also Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Regulus Resources.
Javier Robeto
Vice President and Country Manager, Argentina
Javier Robeto is an Argentine geologist with more than 20 years of experience in the mining industry.
Javier joined Antares Minerals in 2004 and was project manager of both the Rio Grande project in Argentina and the Haquira project in Southern Peru. Javier was hired as Regulus’ Country Manager in 2010, when Antares’ Argentina properties were spun out to Regulus upon the sale of Haquira. Javier has been leading Aldebaran’s Altar project exploration since 2018, when Regulus spun out its Argentina properties to Aldebaran.
Javier has an MBA from IAE Business School of the Austral University, Buenos Aires, and a B.Sc. from National University of San Juan, Argentina.
Stanford Foy
Vice President Project Development
Stanford Foy is a geological engineer with a B.Sc. from the Montana College of Mineral Science & Technology, Butte (1991), with a focus on resource and reserve estimation, mineral economic modeling and advancing exploration projects towards feasibility. His unique 28+ year experience combining mineral exploration with operational and technical roles from both open-pit and underground operations provides valuable insight for his new role in Aldebaran as Vice President Project Development.
Most recently, he was Director Corporate Development for Sibanye-Stillwater and responsible for the Altar project, managed a feasibility study for the Marathon Project in Ontario, in addition to being involved in numerous M&A due-diligence of potential business opportunities.
Before his corporate role at Stillwater, Mr. Foy held various other roles at the underground PGM mine in Montana including Mine Superintendent, Technical Services Manager, Chief Geologist and Senior Planning Engineer. Mr. Foy has also held roles as Senior Mine Engineer, Ore Reserve Estimator and Mine Geologist. His tenure at Stillwater encompassed nearly 18 years.
Megan Cameron-Jones
Corporate Secretary
Megan Cameron-Jones has 30 years experience in providing regulatory and management services to public companies. She is also the Corporate Secretary of Regulus Resources Inc. and a director and officer of Highway 50 Gold Corp.
For 23 years, Megan was a director and officer of Goldrock Mines Corp. which was acquired by Fortuna Silver Mines in 2016 for $130 million. She was also a director and officer of Pachamama Resources Inc. which merged with Regulus in 2012.
Ben Cherrington
Manager, Investor Relations
Ben Cherrington previously worked in media as a senior project director leading marketing campaigns for executives in the mining sector across the Americas and Africa with Global Business Reports (GBR), and as an analyst writing country-specific investment guides.
He has more than 10 years of experience working in Latin America in the mining and oil & gas sectors, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
Ben has received the Economic Leadership for Mining certificate from the University of British Columbia, with a specialization in Exploration Economics. He is also Manager of Investor Relations for Regulus Resources Inc.
